The Center for Creative Voices in Media focuses on the television industry and demonstrates how recent FCC media ownership policies have had the unintended consequence of harming competition, diversity of viewpoints, and localism - the Commission's key policy goals in regulating media ownership. The evidence cited by the group is compelling, including numerous examples of successful independent producers who due to consolidation and vertical integration can no longer find venues for their work. The Center concludes with a series of proposed reforms that would protect the public interest in competition, diversity of viewpoints and voices, and localism.
The Center for Creative Voices in Media also submitted their 2005 study which makes a compelling case for the link between ownership concentration and indecency.
